Who We Are

Since childhood, I’ve been surrounded by the voices of my grandparents—voices filled with resilience, tenderness, and unforgettable stories about Colombia’s past. Listening to them sparked my curiosity and shaped the way I see the world. My grandfather’s kidnapping and my grandmother’s family’s fight for survival were just the beginning of a lifelong journey to understand our country’s history.

Over time, I realized these stories weren’t being shared widely—certainly not in the spaces where my generation gathered. That realization became the seed for Amores Podcast. What started as my own questions and written reflections has grown into a space where grandparents and grandchildren come together to preserve memory, exchange wisdom, and celebrate love across generations.

For me, grandparents are not only keepers of history but also everyday teachers—guides who offer affection, honesty, and life lessons we can all grow from. Through each episode, we honor their efforts, learn from their advice, and create a heartfelt experience that belongs equally to the families who share and the audience who listens.

This project is, above all, an act of gratitude. Every grandparent’s story and every grandchild’s curiosity has enriched me in ways I can’t measure. My hope is that Amores continues to inspire reflection, connection, and appreciation for the voices that shaped us.

Introduction

Through the Amores Podcast, I want to share with all Colombians the memories and stories of the elderly in this country. It is our responsibility to ensure that the stories of our past are passed on to the new generations so that they are not forgotten. We want to do this before these wonderful beings, full of memories, wisdom, and love, leave us—beings who sometimes feel lonely and, sadly, will not be with us forever. The dynamic of the podcast is as follows: we have two guests... a grandparent with thousands of stories and memories of Colombia, eager to share and leave a legacy for peace, and a grandchild who will help them heal, receiving this immense gift that also carries responsibility for them and for those who listen to us.

Ep. 01

Today, 28 years ago was the release of my grandfather "Amores" kidnap and through this media he wanted to share his story to Gaby, me, and everyone because it is important that we know our history so it doesn't repeat itself. ❤️🇨🇴

Ep. 02

A short summary of the life and family of the strongest woman I know. My grandmother: a hard-working, strong, intelligent, tender and loving woman. With infinite wisdom. A woman with large wounds, but with strong scars that have helped her move forward and overcome difficult situations. ❤️‍🩹 In this episode she gives us a summary of the history of her family, which she remembers with a lot of love and affection. She tells us about how her parents arrived in Córdoba when there was nothing but woods and after years of hard work and effort they were affected by violence, some kidnapped, murdered and forced to migrate. However, Maria Cristina Mejía continues to be the nicest woman, she continues to work and fight for her family, with the hope that Colombia remembers, that it improves, and that history does not repeat itself. 🕊️🇨🇴

Ep. 03

The anecdotes of a hard-working, strong and loving man, who traveled throughout Colombia during his years of work as an agronomist. In this episode, this cultured and intelligent man tells us about the years in which he saw the most beautiful landscapes, but also witnessed the most frightening tragedies. This great reader and writer tells the story in the best way.
